This is a listing for a vintage original 1967 - 1st Print edition of the Janis Joplin / Big Brother & Holding Co -  Avalon Ballroom concert Poster. This poster measures in at 14" wide x 20" Tall. It was printed for the May 5,6 &7, 1967 performance of the Motherload Tour Featuring:
Big Brother and the Holding Company
The Sir Douglas Quintet
Orkestra
The 1st printing of these posters is identified by the presence of a small amount of pale brown ink in the top of the arrow-shaped tail that is right below the "M" in "Room". (Which this one has as you can see from our picture.) The original poster printing is also just slightly darker than the 2nd print "reprint" versions. First editions like this were printed before the date of the concert. Where as 2nd printings lacking any brown ink in the arrow-shaped tail, are a little bit lighter in color, and were printed after the concert.
The artists for this poster were Rick Griffin with Photograph by Bob Seidemann. Poster is No.60-1 and has "1967© Family Dog Productions  639 Gough St., San Francisco, Calif. 94102" along with the various Ticket Outlets printed on the bottom front of the poster. There is also a stamp on the back of the poster that reads: " Published in U.S.A. - Distributed by BEN GRANDY COMPANY, INC. 1355 Market Street - San Francisco, Calif. 94103"
