An original civil war infantry officer 2nd Lt shoulder strap single in the very rare smaller size that was adopted by some Union officers after it became apparent how good southern sharpshooters were. beautiful dark blue velvet for infantry and nearly perfect narrow bullion border. Oil paper backed as found on many authentic civil war straps. Dark blue cloth material that was originally around the border is mostly gone.
