    Description

Came across this at one of my vintage dealers and was just sick it didn't fit me! It is absolutely fabulous. Pix do a pretty good job of showcasing this beauty. I have never seen one styled like this. Difficult to date as it is that decadent silk you often see in older pieces but does have shoulder pads although they have been around since 30s-40s.  It has a little label stating "Made in China" and 36 so certainly could be later. I think it is probably anywhere from 40s to 80s which is quite a stretch but just hard to say. Beautifully tailored; even has little weighted pieces in front in bottom of front edge so thinking it was most likely a high end piece whenever it was made. The frog closures are nicely done and the sleeves are quite wide and have a sewn down angular cuff.  Fully lined so can't tell if embroidery is hand done. As you can see it is styled somewhat like 40s peplum jackets; there is a seamed waist and the back part is longer and wider than the front, gathered to ruffle out. Just a great piece. Maybe made in China for a high end department store in Europe as sizing not US. Who knows and who cares it is just fantastic. I did search the internet and couldn't find anything like this so somewhat of a OOAK.  Can run the gamut from casual to quite fancy. Pair with black pants or leggings, a skirt or sheath for a stunning outfit fit for a gala or just wear over jeans. In very good condition. I couldn't button anything but the waist on my larger fake mannequin (pix 2) although plenty big on smaller one. Does say 36 although not sure what sizing that is; a Chinese 36 is small but I think this could fit a SM and maybe a smaller medium. You could wear open and would fit a bit larger size.
