    Description

    SS United States Ashtray.   4 inches in diameter.  Like new condition!
    The S.S. United States on her maiden voyage in 1952 broke the speed record for a transatlantic crossing by a ocean liner.  The record crossing between New York and Southampton England took 3 days, 10 hours and 40 minutes.  Eastbound and 3 days, 12 hours, and 12 minutes.  It was the proud recipient of the Blue Riband and the Hales Trophy - a most prestigious award.  To this date this record stands.   Imagine the celebrations onboard at that time in the Main Deck Bar.   Imagine all the drinks that were served to celebrities, dignitaries, and First Class Passengers.  If only this martini shaker could talk and tell the stories of fabulous time!!   I was on board the S.S. United States during and after the Guernsey Auction.   This is another one of my favorite pieces in my collection!
