Vintage SS United States Lines Cruise Ship Large Tin Flour Sugar Kitchen Sifter Rudman & Scofield SSUS RARE  FREE SHIPPING! Vintage SS United States Lines Large Commercial Tin Flour Kitchen Sifter Rudman & Scofield. Here is a really RARE vintage large commercial size tin flour or sugar sifter from the greatest cruise ship ever built, the SS United States, made by Rudman & Scofield, Inc., makers of Commissary & Cooking Items, which I don't think is in business under that name any more. I couldn't find any info about this company. This sifter was purchased at the auction of the ships contents in Norfolk, Va in 1982 but the sifter likely dates to the 1950's. The sifter is made of tin, I think, and the screen part appears to be possibly copper, not sure of that either. The sifter measures about 14 1/4" inches in diameter NOT counting the handles which add another 2.5" inches. The kitchen sifter is marked USL Rudman & Scofield Inc. NYC on one side and USL on the other. There are a few spots of verdegris ?? on the sifting (screen) part, which is why I think it may be copper or brass??? and there is a small dented spot in the screen as well (you can see it in some of the pictures), however, there are no holes, tears etc in the screen. Overall, the piece is in great condition. I have been selling SSUS items on and off for 10 years or so and I have never seen another one of these. Lots and lots of pictures.
